The joy of being women! We sent the guys to do laundry and we went shopping! Whoo-hoo.

These murals are located in the Tenderloin District which is a very poor area of San Francisco. Many homeless depend on the various shelters and food kitchens.

The captions on each picture really caught my attention.

Bob and Marni at the Thai Stick restaurant.

Sandy and Paul dine at the Thai Stick watched over by the Warrior Godess

We walked a few blocks to David's Delicatessan (and to be honest, we'd been there less than 24 hours before) and showing complete lack of restraints dove right into the dessert tray. After asking the waiters if there were nuts in the German Chocolate and being told 'no', Marni discovered there were walnuts which was a problem. Luckily, she was able to soothe her itchy palate with the double chocolate decadence!

Bob and Marni went to see Avenue Q, a very adult take off on the Muppets, at the Orpheum Theatre and took a picture of the inside balcony (above).

Sandy and Paul visited the DaVinci exhibit at the Metreon.

Sandy knew she was getting close to finding her favorite treat!!
Lunch at Dante's. Marni worried that eating sizzling crab would be way too much work...until she ate her first bite!!
A view from Pier 39 at Fisherman's Wharf This street musician sure had a tough critic!!

Marni forgot her digital camera on out trip to Fisherman's Wharf /Ghiardelli Square, so I'll be your tour guide. After eating breakfast at the crepe place we walked a few blocks to catch a cable car. We learned very quickly that patience is needed when it comes to travelling by cable car.....one has to wait for a car to arrive with enough room to let you onboard!!

Once down on the bay we had a great day shopping, visiting art galleries, and people watching.

Dinner at Fino's

This was the most fantastic meal we have had so far.....well, at least since the Chinese meal. Italian cuisine, free wine, entertaining waiter, free range chicken (this was a source of great amusement to all!) and desserts to die for. Luckily, it is located next to our hotel so we didn't have to drive, walk (stumble) or navigate. California wines are great!

Day 2 1/2 in San Francisco

Marni and Bob enjoy a much needed break in Golden Gate Park.
Beautiful view of Golden Gate Bridge
The Andrews Hotel - excellent and would recommend to anyone.
Sandy and Marni were planning to visit the Legion of Honor museum. Unfortunately, Marni didn't check to make sure it was OPEN on Monday (well, duh!) but we got this wonderful picture of "The Thinker" and will try to go back tomorrow! Luckily, we were able to bus over to the Golden Gate Park and hook up with the guys. Thank heaven for cell phones!
Bob and Paul in the lobby - free wine for guests of the Andrews. :-)
Paroda in the Japanese Tea Garden
Another break for the weary travellers!
Bob and Paul climb over this barrel bridge. Quite an adventure!
Paul & Sandy next to the huge hydrangeasSt. Paul of Assisi attracts critters wherever he goes!

Hills, Hills & More Hills!

First "Marni" story of the trip.....realized about three blocks from the hotel that my shirt was on inside out. Luckily, there was a vacant storefront and Sandy, Paul and Bob acted as a sheild ... problem solved!
Attended mass at Old St. Mary's

Sandy and Paul on our walk to church....unbelievable hills!

Golden Gate bridge in the distance.

Spent the afternoon in Chinatown....so much to see & do!

Beautiful dragon!
Sandy and Paul at the Empress of China restaurant.
The food alone was worth the trip!

We've had a wonderful time travelling to San Francisco and have seen all kinds of wildlife. Jack rabbits, deer, racoons, bald eagles, pelicans, and a family of prairie dogs.

The scenery and landscape has been spectacular and we all agreed that pictures do not do the mountains justice. They are absolutely amazing and its not hard to believe they are over 10.7 million years old. I can only imagine what they looked like before erosion!

*There is a strange tradition on the Colorado River. When a train passes by, people who are rafting or boating will 'moon' the train. We saw more backsides than we really wanted to!

We're now in our hotel and are going to collapse for the night. Tomorrow we will be visiting the Legion of Honor or Fisherman's Wharf.
