I Took A Deep Breath ...

.... when Bob came into our bedroom today and said: "Will you love me even though I just did something really stupid?"

Long story....last week he lost his wallet and called the bank and canceled his ATM/debt and credit card. (Of course, two hours later his found his wallet). That night, I'm at the store and try to use my credit card for text books ... declined. Ok, so I pull out my ATM card and use that....so much for having a month to pay for the books....again, no big deal. Call the bank the next day and find out our cards have the same number (argh!).

It takes 7 - 10 business days for replacement cards so for a week, Bob has been sporadically borrowing my ATM/debit card while he waits for his to come in the mail.

Today, the love of my life receives two new credit cards (one for him and one for me) and also his new ATM/debit card. He activates all three and then goes into his wallet, pulls out the debit card and proceeds to cut it up. The problem?? It was MY DEBIT CARD which he had borrowed again to buy something.

*Picture Marni's face turning to stone and eyes hardening to laser beams ....

(calming breath) I swear God is testing me. For many years now during Lent I try to do something which is extremely difficult for me. This year I decided to try to find the good in every situation which annoys me.

Yes, God definitely has a good sense of humor.

Mother Nature

In Michigan, especially on the west side, we're used to snow....lots of snow. We have regular snow and then "lake effect" snow....that wonderful snow that comes from cold air hitting the warmer water off Lake Michigan.

We almost take a perverse pride in talking about how bad it gets and the conditions we drive in. This year is no different.

Last week, we spent our drives to and from work battling sub-zero temperatures, glazed ice and blowing winds and then thanks to this ever-changing weather this was followed by a few days of rain and sleet producing flood warns and ice dams.

Today, it's back to the frozen stuff. After I left church this morning (Ash Wednesday), my drive consisted of misting rain, pelting rain, sleet, pelting sleet, hail and then snow....gotta love it. Oh, I shouldn't forget the wind, too!

As I sit here, the wind is blowing and the snow is piling up. Too bad I have to work tomorrow ...it would be a great day for a book and hot chocolate! :-)
